Creating an Action-Oriented Vision Board: Tips for Achieving Your 2024 Goals

If you've been with me a while you've seen and heard me talk about my Vision Boards over the years but for the first time ever, I'm going to share my tips for creating a board that inspires you to take ACTION in making your dreams come true!

First, pick the vision board that suits your space in size and style so you can hang it in a visible place. Here are my favorites including one from a local small business, Casa Zuma and with the code KARA10, you'll not only get 10% off of your board (and her entire site) but also free access to Camille's Vision Board Workshop on January 6th. The Casa Zuma board comes in two sizes and comes with brass push pins too, but because I want to make sure there is an option for every budget, here are a few others I've used over the years from Amazon:

Then get some pretty pins to put everything up! Here are some that I've used over the years:

Next, follow these steps:

  • Start by brainstorming (print or use the brainstorm sheet below) then find photos (magazines - google search).

  • Make sure the pictures and words are big enough to read.

  • Don’t overload with text!

  • Be specific (ie with what you want to make, what you want to save).

  • Pick one or two quotes IF they resonate with you.

  • Keep each category to no more than 5 pictures.

  • Feel free to label some images -reading & seeing sometimes helps!

  • Consider taking a photo of your vision board and keeping it as your lockscreen - you want to see it everyday or as often as possible.

  • Place your vision | action board somewhere you can see it often!

  • Print photos at home or send to print for higher quality to do this put all images in word/pages doc then cut them out at home.

  • And remember to leave space for magic!

Now you are ready to brainstorm and printing this tool might help:

Lastly pick 5-7 categories and plan out your board. You can put whatever is important to you but I usually keep the same categories every year and this is how I lay out my board:

Not everyone is crafty and I don't want you to not do this because you don't have time so I'm also including a few sheets of text, quotes, icons for you to print to get started:

Also I would recommend not sharing this board with anyone until the end of the year or maybe never. I read in The Secret years ago that it's best not to share your dreams with anyone who might crush them and you don't need negative opinions that might hinder your success. I definitely don't hide my Vision Board, it hangs right in view in my home office where I can see it every day and if I want to share something on it with my husband Simon, I do, but I feel comfortable in doing that because he is my biggest cheerleader and supporter... it's up to you if you want to keep it private and if you don't know that the person you're showing will react positively and supportively, I wouldn't share it with them.

When you start your vision board, please feel free to ask me any questions in dms over on Instagram. I would be happy to share my over 10+ years experience creating them if it helps you realize your dreams too!

I can't wait to hear how this helps you!

xoxo - Kara
